The Europa Club has an extremely active social side, involving fly-ins, gatherings and other events, organised by regional co-ordinators and co-ordinated by our Social Secretary David Joyce.

We also endeavour to include other events that may be of interest to Europa enthusiasts - to have your event included, please contact our Webmaster, Jeremy Davey

Flying Programme 2008

Date Event Details
May
4/5/08 William’s DOTH – A Fly In in memory of William and Paul It is proposed to hold a Fly In in memory of William Mills and Paul Sweeting at Shobden Airfield on 27/4/08 (or 1 week later, 4/5/08, if weather dictates). The airfield will waive landing fees and it is expected that a large number of Europa pilots will want to attend. Full details have been circulated on the europa-list, but if you missed these, please contact David Corbett now to let him know of your intention to participate. David.corbett5 at btinternet.com
24/5/08 -3/6/08 Ireland Tour Peter Kember organised a previous successful Irish trip 10 years ago, and has volunteered to do it again. The plan is for a fairly relaxed tour, spending a fair part of the time at Kilrush and Kerry in Western Ireland. The trip is now fully subscribed.  Peter Kember: 2pk at peterkember.co.uk
14/6/08 (back up 15/6) Lydeway Fly In Nigel Charles. This has become a highly enjoyable annual event. For those who are not familiar with it, Lydeway is about 3nm East of Devizes in central Wiltshire. The event is free, including BBQ and drinks for pilot and passenger. In exchange you may be asked to give a couple of short joyride flights to local residents. As slots are limited this event is strictly PPR. Slots will be allocated in May when reminders will be sent out by email. If only available one of the days this is OK as separate lists are kept for the two days. Register your interest by contacting Nigel: nwcmc at tiscali.co.uk or tel. 01380860620.
5/7/08 – 12/7/08 Tour de France Not surprisingly, for many years the Tour de France has proved the most popular of the Club trips, since France is such a perfect touring destination. The trip is deliberately low pressure, concentrating on the many good things which France has to offer. It is also set up to appeal to wives/partners and includes all the support needed for first time foreign tourers. This year apart from the usual good food, wine and weather, Bob hopes to include the celebration of 100yrs of European Flight at Le Mans: ‘Les Pionniers de L’Aviation Exhibition & Flying Display’. 6-15/6/08 (approx) Scandinavian Tour Bob Harrison who is a highly experienced Scandinavian flyer, will be organising this trip to take in the excellent Swedish and Danish rallies at Barkaby and Stauning, with an interesting program of visits in Sweden and Finland between these events.  Contact Bob: ptag.dev at tiscali.co.uk
20-30/8/08 (approx) Black Sea Trip This will take us across N. Europe (probably Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia ) into Romania, with a few days exploring Romania, then returning by a more southerly route (probably Hungary, Austria, Switzerland). I will be organising this with David Corbett. Contact me: davidjoyce at doctors.org.uk
30-31/8/08 Europa Club Fly In  & Club AGM at Laddingford The AGM will be held on 30/8/08. Overnight accommodation available. Full details to be circulated later.  Contact Peter Kember: 2pk at peterkember.co.uk

13/9/08 Europa Club Fly In at Old Sarum Come and see the three resident Europas and inspect Mod 63B (High top & lowered cowl). Free landings for Europas. Non flying builders and prospective buyers welcome and you might well get a ride. Reserved lunch tables or BBQ, depending on numbers. Contact Ian Rickard: g-iani at ntlworld.com  or tel 01483 714096
