PPL/A gained Nov 1977 flying the DHC1 Chipmunk and Cessna 150. I allowed my license to lapse after only 54 hours total time in 1979. In August 2002 I revalidated my license at Gloucester (Staverton) on PA28's after a gap of about 23 years.
When I started converting onto my Europa I had a total flight time of 80 hours spread over about 26 years. To date (Sept 2009) I have about 300 hours on Europa G-BZTH, most as P1. Tango Hotel has been from the Outer Hebrides to Brittany, Berlin to Holland.
Can talk about aeroplanes for hours. I have, with help from family and friends, carried out virtually all the build personally including the painting (and it shows!!).
I live in Gloucester and currently keep G-BZTH at Defford Croft farm in Worcestershire.
Kit 10, G-BZTH classic monowheel with Rotax 912. Build started Nov. 1993, first flight was in December 2002. Having converted to the monowheel I am still expanding my expertise on the Europa (a super little aircraft).
I claim a world record as having the longest build time of any Europa so far!
I was a Radar technician in the RAF for 10 years on Electronic counter measures. We got a mention in the infamous "Spycatcher" book, buy me a pint and I'll tell you all about it. I then worked as a Flight Trials Engineer at Warton on the Jaguar program for some years. I then worked as a Systems Engineer for a Dutch company that makes large format digital printers amongst other things. I now work part time at a Primary School in Gloucester
