| Purpose | The modification is designed to expedite the passage of air into the duct by collecting ram air from behind the propeller. |
| Description | The tropical chin intake modification extends the standard intake forwards to line up with the front face of the cowling, on the trailing edge of the spinner. It removes the bluff rectangular shape of the standard XS opening and introduces smooth flowing curves behind a new sharp edged elliptical shaped opening. |
